A familiar face was back on the rink and practicing with the Bruins Tuesday morning after missing the B’s playoff run so far.Patrice Bergeron was on the ice and skating with teammates after sitting out all of his team’s postseason play due to an injury.Bergeron skated on his own last week, but did not make the trip to Florida for Games 3 and 4 against the Florida Panthers, where the Bruins won twice and built a 3-1 series lead.Tuesday marked Bergeron’s first, full practice since the playoffs started, putting him on track to make a postseason debut for Game 5 in Boston on Wednesday night.Speaking with reporters, the captain said he was feeling pretty good following the practice, adding that he was hopeful there would not be any setbacks keeping him out of the lineup. However, he noted the importance of playing it smart and not forcing the issue too soon.“It’s one of those things where you try to get back as quickly as possible, but at the same time, you...The Nationals beat the Orioles in New York’s high court, but 11-year MASN dispute could head to ‘extra innings’

The Orioles have been locked in a financial battle with the Washington Nationals for nearly 12 years. It started before Manny Machado played his first game for the Orioles in 2012 and has extended past when Trey Mancini played his last contest for the club in 2022.Maybe it could end, however, while Adley Rutschman — the team’s current star — remains in a Baltimore uniform. The New York Court of Appeals ruled 6-0 Tuesday in favor of the Nationals in perhaps the most crucial decision yet in the saga that has pitted the Orioles and the Mid-Atlantic Sports Network (MASN) against the Nationals. The court ruled that an arbitration committee of MLB executives was adequate and not partial when it decided how much revenue each team should receive from MASN for the five-year period from 2012 to 2016.The decision from New York’s highest court essentially closes the door on what the Orioles have argued for years: that MLB and its arbitration committee — the Revenue ...Montana House cancels session after rally for trans lawmaker

By AMY BETH HANSON and SAM METZ (Associated Press)HELENA, Mont. (AP) — Montana’s House speaker canceled a Tuesday floor session a day after seven protesters were arrested for disrupting proceedings with demands that Rep. Zooey Zephyr, a transgender Democrat silenced by lawmakers for comments against a bill to ban gender-affirming medical care, be allowed to speak. The cancellation is the latest development in a standoff over whether Montana Republicans will let the lawmaker from Missoula speak unless she apologizes for her remarks last week on a gender-affirming care ban proposal.Speaker Matt Regier did not take questions on Tuesday or explain why lawmakers were not returning to the floor, but in a brief statement called the disruptions a “dark day for Montana.”“Currently, all representatives are free to participate in House debates while following the House rules,” Regier told reporters. “The choice to not follow the House rules is one that ...5 things we heard from the Chicago Bears, including trade scenarios for the NFL draft and reaction to the Aaron Rodgers deal

The Bears’ additions to the offensive line this weekend will be telling. It won’t be only the players they choose but where they are chosen. It has been established for months that a sturdier front should be a priority as the Bears enter a pivotal evaluation season for quarterback Justin Fields.Poles signed guard Nate Davis in free agency to help stabilize the interior of the line, and there’s a presumption in many league circles that the Bears will add one of the top offensive tackles in the ...Santander Bank to close 19 branches in Massachusetts, online banking a factor in the decision

President Biden’s announcement he would seek re-election to the nation’s highest office comes just as polling shows voters wish both leading candidates would sit out 2024 altogether.According to an NBC News survey of 1,000 adults conducted just days before Biden’s unsurprising second term bid began in earnest, “70% of all Americans — including 51% of Democrats — believe he should not run for a second term.”Biden, 80, is the oldest person to ever run for president or seek re-election to that office. His predecessor and presumptive Republican counterpart, 76-year-old former President Donald Trump, would himself clinch that title were he running against any other candidate. The president’s advanced age, those surveyed told NBC News, is among the chief reasons they do not want him to run for a second four-year term, with more than half of respondents labeling Biden’s eight lived decades a “major” concern when considering their 2024 pick for the presidency. This may sound like good n...Latest news
