Cannons blast: Los Angeles alt-indie-electro-pop band Cannons has just performed at both Coachella weekends, and we spoke to singer Michelle Joy between the two. We can at least confirm that their set at Weekend One was a resounding success, and we doubt that Weekend Two will go down any differently. This is a band on the rise, local heroes-in-making who straddle the line between alternative and pop in a manner that suggests they can appeal to many markets without ever sacrificing their integrity. It’s been that way from the beginning, when they formed at the end of 2012. Their journey has been organic.“The mission since the beginning has just been to make music that we like to listen to, that we enjoy,” says Joy. “Always keep it coming from the right place, and to grow together doing this project. Ryan (Clapham, guitar) and Paul (Davis, bass) grew up together, on the same street, and have been making music together for a very long time. So they had this special connection. SACRAMENTO — The first-round series between the Warriors and Sacramento Kings feels like a full-circle moment for Golden State play-by-play radio announcer Tim Roye. His last stop before taking the Warriors gig in 1995 was at Sacramento’s KFBK-AM radio, where he was part of the Kings broadcast team while also serving as the station’s sports director from 1989-95. During his time there, he worked closely with Gary Gerould, the Kings’ long-time radio announcer, and they formed a close relationship that still stands strong to this day.Over the years, the two often talked about what it would be like if the Warriors and Kings had ever met in a playoff series.“I wondered if the time would ever come in our lifetimes when these two teams would be good at the same time,” Gerould said in a recent phone interview.Roye recalled telling Gerould, “I’m going to stay in this business until we get one of these.”At the beginning of this season, a matchup...7 amazing Bay Area things to do this weekend, April 28-30

Q: A co-worker was cited recently by the CHP near Aptos because he had his cell phone in his hand. He explained to the officer that it was plugged into the charger and he was putting it on the cradle. Traffic was stopped! He has phone record evidence showing that the phone was not used during the time of ticketing, nor was it used for several hours prior to ticketing. Do you think he has a chance of getting off the ticket if he goes to court?Dennis KennedyA: His odds of winning are 50-50, at best. The first thing he should do is get a traffic attorney to advise him.If the officer does not show up for the hearing, the ticket will be dismissed. If your co-worker presents his evidence and the judge finds the argument credible, the judge may lower the fine. If your co-worker goes to traffic school and wins the challenge, the ticket could be expunged from his record. If he goes to traffic school and loses the challenge, he’ll pay a higher fine and the ticket will stay on his record....What are the real Vegas odds for the Oakland A’s?

OAKLAND — After the A’s announced they were finally preparing to leave this city, the team’s faithful reacted with despair, bitterness and a sense of inevitability. In the days after, however, skepticism crept back into the mix — as it always seems to with the A’s, who previously pursued new ballparks in Fremont and San Jose. So just how likely is it that the team is actually going to leave Oakland in 2024 and finish constructing a new home a mile off the Las Vegas strip by 2027?The team has secured a binding deal to buy land in Vegas, but it still needs to figure out the specifics of financing a $1 billion, 35,000-seat stadium with a retractable roof. And as they say, the devil is in the details. The larger question of whether the Vegas move is a done deal may come down to the A’s expectation that Las Vegas, Clark County and the state of Nevada will cough up as much as $500 million in public financing.A view shows Allegiant Stadium, home of the NFL...6.5K PG&E customers still without power in San Francisco
