LOUIS - About a dozen at-risk and disadvantaged youth graduated Saturday from a construction skills training program, giving them another chance to build a better future for themselves.Ranken Technical College's auditorium was filled with joy, cheers, and applause as students received their high school certifications and industry-recognized construction credentials from the YouthBuild Program."YouthBuild St. Louis City is for ages 16 to 24 young adults who have found themselves in some unfortunate situations and have dropped out of high school," said Fredrecka McGlown, executive director of the St. Louis Agency on Training and Employment (SLATE).For Dor Lisa Buford, faith, patience, and perseverance are what helped her get through the program. For the third straight year, California's population declined amid rising housing costs and people feeling like their money just doesn't go as far as it used to. Avelo Airlines is launching 20 new flights this month, including one out of Hollywood Burbank Airport.Beginning June 28, travelers can fly with the budget airline from Burbank to Bozeman Yellowstone International Airport in Bozeman, Montana.The flights will operate twice-weekly on Mondays and Fridays, with passengers riding aboard a Boeing "Next-Generation 737" aircraft.Avelo has been flying out of Hollywood Burbank Airport since it began operating under its current corporate identity in 2021.The airline previously offered a Burbank to Bozeman flight at the time of its launch in Burbank, but those flights were dropped within months as the coronavirus pandemic continued to hamper travel across the globe.Just last month, Avelo began offering direct flights from Burbank to another Montana travel destination. 18-Year-Old Passenger Dies in Wrong-Way Car Accident near State Route 103LONG BEACH, CA (June 23, 2023) – Early Saturday morning, Geronimo Reynaga was killed in a wrong-way collision on Pacific Coast Highway.The incident occurred on May 13th, around 2:30 a.m., near State Route 103.According to reports, the 18-year-old driver of a BMW with two passengers struck a curb near the Terminal Island Freeway and lost control of the vehicle. As a result, the BMW struck a raised median and another curb.Upon impact, the BMW became airborne and overturned, ejecting Reynaga from the vehicle. Fatal High-Speed Car Accident near Glenarm StreetPASADENA, CA (June 23, 2023) – Early Sunday morning, one victim was killed and multiple were injured in a pursuit collision on 110 Freeway.Around 12:30 a.m., officers noticed a northbound vehicle with no lights on veering in and out of their lane. Police then attempted to pull over the driver when the pursuit began.The suspect driver then crashed into two other vehicles stopped at a red light, at a high rate of speed on Glenarm Street.Medical personnel arrived and pronounced the suspect driver who was not wearing a seat belt, dead at the scene. Elizabeth Manuel Injured in Two-Vehicle Crash near North Bowman RoadTUCSON, AZ (June 23, 2023) – Tuesday evening, a deadly motorcycle and vehicle collision claimed the life of Brandon Castelhano.The incident happened on May 16th, at around 6:30 p.m., near the intersection of East Edwin Road and North Bowman Road.According to the Arizona DPS, a motorcyclist identified as 24-year-old Castelhano and a vehicle driven by 36-year-old Elizabeth Manuel were involved in the collision. At this time, the circumstances surrounding the collision remain unclear.Emergency crews arrived to the site of the collision shortly after. From there, medics transported both Castelhano and Manuel to a local hospital for treatment of injuries sustained.At the hospital, Castelhano succumbed to his injuries. OAKLAND — A 19-year-old San Francisco man has been arrested and charged with killing Jen Angel, a beloved baker, activist and longtime zine publisher who was dragged to her death during a purse snatching in February, court records show.Ishmael Burch, 19, was charged June 7 with murdering and robbing Angel, as well as a second robbery that occurred the same day Angel was gravely injured. Burch was already in jail at the time he was charged, due to a June 2 arrest on suspicion of battery, records show.Authorities say that Burch was identified as the driver of a stolen vehicle that sped away after a second person took Angel’s purse and ran to the getaway car.
