Texas Parks and Wildfire to stock lakes across Texas with catfish

AUSTIN (KXAN) – Texas Parks and Wildlife Department, or TPWD, said Monday it will stock thousands of catfish at lakes across Texas through the fall. TPWD said its Neighborhood Fishin' program "provides an opportunity for friends and families to participate in the Texas traditions of outdoor recreation by reeling in catfish close to home."TPWD will stock catfish from April to October at 18 lakes, including five in the Dallas-Fort Worth area, four in the Houston area, two each in Austin and San Antonio, and one each in Amarillo, College Station, San Angelo, Waco and Wichita Falls.“Neighborhood Fishin’ lakes are conveniently located in urban and suburban areas so that Texans don’t have to travel far to have a great experience,” said Craig Bonds, director of Inland Fisheries in Monday's release. “Catfish are fun and easy to catch for anglers of all ages and experience levels. MARBLE FALLS, Texas (KXAN) -- Equipped with cowbells and oversized checks, a group of donors from the Marble Falls Education Foundation (MFEF) and district administrators roamed the hallways of MFISD schools making noise in a usually quiet school. The disruption in the school day was a welcome one for MFISD teachers. The cowbell-tolling group were bringing a much needed surprise with them. The group handed out $72,000 of grant money to teachers and staff throughout the day. Grants 4 Great Ideas The program is known as Grants 4 Great Ideas. Teachers have the opportunity to apply for a grant with the MFEF to receive money for a great idea they have for teaching. It's the fifth year the foundation has awarded the grants. It's a way to help teachers grow their budget and encourages new ideas for teaching. QUEENSBURY, N.Y. (NEWS10) -- A Glens Falls woman was airlifted to Albany Medical Center after going off the road, hitting multiple road signs and a large tree on Monday. On Monday, around 10:40 p.m., the Warren County Sheriff's Office said they received a call for a personal injury resulting from a car crash at the intersection of Dixon Road and Parkview Road in Queensbury. Deputies say the driver was unable to be removed from the car and had to be extricated by the Queensbury Central Fire Department. HAZELWOOD, Mo. - Two people were found dead inside a Hazelwood home. Wednesday morning, police believe the suspect is a family member who shot himself when police arrived at the scene.Hazelwood police are still at the scene on Woody Court, just off North Hanley, many hours after the initial call. They are securing the home behind where the victims were discovered. St. Louis County Police are also part of this investigation because a Hazelwood officer fired his weapon during a confrontation with the suspect.Hazelwood police shared that officers were called here just after 7:30 p.m. for a report of a disturbance and possible shots fired. ST. LOUIS - A business' pickup truck hit several parked cars in south St. Louis. It's unknown if that truck was stolen.Police said a white work truck hit a green Dodge pickup, as well as a white Dodge sedan. The green pickup went from where it was parked to directly behind the white sedan, over the sidewalk, and into a stairway and rail. ST. LOUIS - Crews responded to a vacant building fire in St. Louis City Wednesday morning. FOX 2's Nissan Rogue Runner reporter Nic Lopez was at the scene, located on Martin Luther King Drive and Newstead Avenue, where firefighters tried to stop the flames from spreading to an occupied neighboring building, but it suffered some damage on the second floor and roof.
