Members of a union that represents Los Angeles Unified School District workers along with the United Teachers of Los Angeles plan to announce dates of an upcoming strike at a rally Wednesday evening.SEIU Local 99 members voted in February to authorize a strike and thousands signed a strike commitment saying they are ready to take action.“LAUSD has continued to harass and threaten SEIU Local 99 members engaging in union activities for a fair contract. In response, our SEIU Local 99 bargaining team has called for a 3-day unfair practice charges strike,” union members explained on their website.Teachers and support staff from the second largest school district in the nation said they are striking for three days to show officials they are “fed up” and want to demand respect for their work, better conditions and higher wages. MILPITAS, Calif. (KRON) -- Thirteen inmates overdosed on fentanyl at Elmwood Correctional Facility, and three staff members were impacted after being exposed to the drug while treating the inmates, according to the Santa Clara County Sheriff's Office. Sheriff's deputies and jail medical staff administered Narcan to both inmates before they were taken to a local hospital for further treatment. One of the deputies who responded to the initial call was affected in the incident, and he started showing signs of fentanyl exposure. Residence Dons at Queen’s University have signaled their intention to unionize.In a statement on March 15th, the United Steelworkers union (USW) confirmed that they have received an application from Dons at Queen’s University to join the United Steelworkers union.
