DENVER (KDVR) — Big changes are coming for Denver's weather ahead of Christmas Eve.Cooler temperatures, as well as rain and snow, are coming Saturday, which will make for a Pinpoint Weather Alert Day for Sunday. Weather today: Cloudy, light rain/snowMostly cloudy skies are expected to dominate the area for Saturday along with light rain and snow showers, mainly in the afternoon. High temperatures will still be above average, in the upper 40s and lower 50s. Winds could be breezy at times gusting up to 20 mph.The light rain will continue through dinnertime before transitioning to snow in the overnight hours. Meanwhile, the high country will be getting more snowfall Saturday, with another 6-9" for the likes of Vail, Eagle and Aspen. DENVER (KDVR) -- One person died in a shooting in Thornton, according to police on Saturday.The shooting happened in the 16000 block of Grant Street. DENVER (KDVR) -- Police in Westminster investigated a shooting in a parking lot late Friday night that killed one and critically injured another.Officers responded to the 8900 block of Harlan Street around 10:35 p.m. and found an adult man suffering from a gunshot wound.He was taken to a local hospital where he later died from his injuries.Shortly after, officers were notified of an additional adult man who was also at a local hospital. A state trooper and two other people were taken to the hospital early Saturday morning after a state police cruiser was struck by a suspected drunken driver on Route 24 in West Bridgewater, officials said.A trooper reported around 12:30 a.m. that his cruiser was struck while he was conducting a motor vehicle stop on Route 24 southbound, according to state police. The trooper reported that his cruiser was pushed into him while he was outside of it, causing him to be struck by the vehicle.Three people were taken to Good Samaritan Hospital in Brockton to be treated for minor injuries, state police said.The driver who struck the trooper was charged with operating a motor vehicle while under the influence of liquor. DOLBEAU-MISTASSINI, Que. — Quebec provincial police are searching for a four-year-old girl who fell into a river in a region north of Quebec City on Friday afternoon.Police Sergeant Hugues Beaulieu says the child was sledding with her mother near the bank of the Mistassibi River in Dolbeau-Mistassini, Que. at around 2:30 p.m. when she passed through a safety barrier and fell into the water.Beaulieu says police searched the area all night and are continuing their efforts this morning.Police divers and a helicopter are assisting in the search.Beaulieu says the geography of the area poses a challenge and the river is difficult to access.Police had to use a crane to lift the divers’ boat into the river.This report by The Canadian Press was first published Dec. 23, 2023.The Canadian PressA pro-peace Russian presidential hopeful is blocked by the election commission

One male has died and another has serious injuries from a shooting in the Steeles Avenue West and Weston Road on Saturday morning. Toronto police responded to a call at approximately 1:53 a.m. for reports of a shooting.Two males had been shot, one male was transported to hospital via emergency run and was pronounced deceased, and the second male was at the hospital with serious but non-life threatening injuries.There is no suspect information at this time and an investigation is ongoing.
