(CNN) — Almost four decades after he first appeared on television screens, Frasier Crane is back–and he’s basically the same, albeit with a new skyline. The first full trailer for the reboot of the hit ’90s sitcom “Frasier” was released by Paramount+ on Thursday, offering more details of the series, which sees Kelsey Grammer return to play the titular character 30 years after the original show first aired.Set in Boston, the city in which the world was first introduced to Frasier, the trailer shows him attempting to reconnect with his now adult son Freddy, played by Jack Cutmore-Scott, and moving from Seattle in the hope of mending their relationship. But, in keeping with Frasier’s character, it proves difficult, as the pompous psychiatrist arrives at his son’s house unannounced and later forbids him to sit on a couch covered with expensive Christian Lacroix cushions.Scenes from the new trailer also show Frasier sitting in a bar, drinking beer, and feeling “amalgamated with the hoi pol...Orioles icon Adam Jones officially retires with Baltimore: ‘I’m forever grateful’

Adam Jones’ on-field mark in Baltimore came in center field at Camden Yards. But it’s in the opposite direction from home plate that Jones has twice cemented the city as his “second home.”Inside the ballpark’s auxiliary clubhouse — the same room he signed a then-franchise-record contract extension in 2012 — Jones officially retired with the Orioles on Friday, as he and executive vice president and general manager Mike Elias each signed four pages of a one-day contract.Jones, 38, spent 11 of his 14 major league seasons with Baltimore before ending his playing career with two seasons in Japan. He ranks among the franchise leaders in several categories, hitting more home runs at Camden Yards than any other batter and serving as a team leader during the Orioles’ most successful run of the past quarter century.“Baltimore has a special part in my heart,” Jones said. “I still consistently watched Orioles games everywhere I w...Dorchester Bay City project master plan receives greenlight from BPDA

A $5 billion project that looks to create a neighborhood within the city’s largest neighborhood has received key approval from the Boston Planning & Development Agency.Under the Dorchester Bay City master plan, which the BPDA has greenlighted, more than 36 acres on the Columbia Point peninsula in Dorchester would be transformed into a massive mixed-use development of office, residential, commercial and community spaces. The master plan provides officials “a blueprint for the long-term future” of the Columbia Point area of Dorchester.Accordia Partners has been working to develop the property alongside UMass Boston since 2019 after being selected by the University of Massachusetts and UMass Building Authority, which purchased the 20-acre former Bayside Expo Center site for $18.7 million in 2010.More than 500 meetings had been held over the years to “help shape the project,” said Kirk Sykes, managing director of Accordia Partners. European regulators slapped TikTok with a $368 million fine on Friday for failing to protect children’s privacy, the first time that the popular short video-sharing app has been punished for breaching Europe’s strict data privacy rules.Ireland’s Data Protection Commission, the lead privacy regulator for Big Tech companies whose European headquarters are largely in Dublin, said it was fining TikTok 345 million euros and reprimanding the platform for the violations dating to the second half of 2020.The investigation found that the sign-up process for teen users resulted in settings that made their accounts public by default, allowing anyone to view and comment on their videos. Those default settings also posed a risk to children under 13 who gained access to the platform even though they’re not allowed.English soccer club Everton to be bought by American investment firm 777 PartnersAmerican investors just can’t seem to get enough of the Premier League.Eve...Lee calling!

WAILUKU, Hawaii (AP) — Authorities in Hawaii have adjusted the number of deaths from the deadly Maui wildfires down to at least 97 people. Previously officials said they believed at least 115 people had died in the fires, but further testing showed they had multiple DNA samples from some of those who died. The number of those who were missing also fell from 41 to 31, Maui Police Chief John Pelletier said. John Byrd, laboratory director with the Defense POW/MIA Accounting Agency, said during a press conference Friday afternoon that the current number of dead should be considered a minimum, because it’s possible that toll could rise. Determining the death toll from the Aug. 8 wildfires in Lahaina has been especially complicated because of the damage caused by the fire and the chaos as people tried to escape, officials said. In some cases, animal remains were inadvertently collected along with human remains. So far, 74 of the deceased have been positively identified, Pelletier said. TOPEKA, Kan. (AP) — Kansas will no longer change transgender people’s birth certificates to reflect their gender identities, the state health department said Friday, citing a new law that prevents the state from legally recognizing those identities. The decision from the state Department of Health and Environment makes Kansas one of a handful of states that won’t change transgender people’s birth certificates. It already was among the few states that don’t change the gender marker on transgender people’s driver’s licenses. Those decisions reverse policies that Democratic Gov. Laura Kelly’s administration set when she took office in 2019. They came in response to court filings by conservative Republican state Attorney General Kris Kobach to enforce the new state law. Enacted by the GOP-controlled Legislature over Kelly’s veto, it took effect July 1 and defines male and female based only on the sex assigned to a person at birth.Jaelynn Abe...Latest news
