(KRON) -- Granite Rock Company agreed to pay $325,000 to settle an environmental protection lawsuit filed by the Santa Clara County District Attorney’s Office. Granite Rock recycles, manufactures, and distributes aggregate, asphalt, concrete, and other materials which can be harmful to the creek if they contaminate stormwater. The company was accused of allowing stormwater runoff contaminated with heavy metals and high alkalinity to pass into storm drains that lead to Coyote Creek. "Coyote Creek is a vital watershed in the Santa Clara Valley, and prosecuting stormwater runoff cases shows our commitment to protecting our natural resources," District Attorney Jeff Rosen said.The District Attorney's Office began investigating Granite Rock in 2017, finding contaminated stormwater flowing into the creek without proper filtration or treatment at the Berryessa facility. A first-round draft pick in 2019, the 23-year-old Baty was batting .400 (14 for 35) with five home runs, 15 RBIs and a 1.386 OPS in nine games at Triple-A Syracuse.The 34-year-old Escobar was hitting .125 with one homer, six RBIs and a .402 OPS in 14 games for the Mets. MBTA transit police asked for the public’s help Monday after they said a man allegedly entered a train with a mini-baseball bat and threatened passengers. Police said the incident happened on Sunday night around 9 p.m. at the Charles/MGH station on the Red Line.
